The YouTube channel of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) already has the video summary of the admission as corresponding academician of Richard Onses<\/strong><\/a>, doctor in Economics and Business Sciences, which was held on February 14 in the Assembly Hall of Catalan Labour Promotion of the National Work<\/strong><\/a>, headquarters of the Academy. The recipient read the admission speech “La l\u00f3gica difusa en la decisi\u00f3n de inversi\u00f3n empresarial frente al riesgo: veinte a\u00f1os entre la investigaci\u00f3n pura y la aplicada”<\/strong> (The fuzzy logic in the decision of business investment against risk: twenty years between pure and applied research). Full academician and Doctor of Law Joan Francesc Pont<\/strong><\/a> answered on behalf of the Royal Corporation.<\/p>\n

In his paper, the new academician recapitulates his two decades of work from the fuzzy logic in the development of practical tools to determine the risk of all kinds of investments. “The basic idea is to prove that fuzzy logic, and in this case the use of a specific algorithm that is the ‘experton’, isn’t a complex artificial intelligence, beyond the reach of the investor. It’s relatively easy to gather experts, translate their thinking mechanism around a problem, and operate with it, in order to obtain as a result a decision aid tool, without going into too many complexities”, explains the author in the presentation of his worko.<\/p>\n

Onses is a recognised international expert on privatization and water management and is an advisor to the UN<\/strong><\/a>, UNICEF<\/strong> <\/a>and the World Bank.<\/strong><\/a> In this paper, the academician addresses three specific topics: risk in Latin America, risk in privatizations and risk in the process of Catalan independence. In all three cases, he uses “expertons” to choose Latin American countries, to discard or prioritise investments or commercial actions, to identify countries where it is more easily privatised or to calculate a risk and identify companies in which the impact of the Catalan sovereignty process can influence your stock market value.<\/p>\n
