Dr. Josep Maria Ustrell<\/p><\/div>\n

Josep Maria Ustrell<\/a>,<\/strong> director of the School of Dentistry<\/strong> of the University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> \u200b\u200bmember of the Group of Oral Health and Masticatory System<\/strong> of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Bellvitge<\/strong><\/a> and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 <\/strong>(RAED ), has chaired together with Carmen Llena<\/strong>, professor at the University of Valencia,<\/strong><\/a> the first Bioethics Day in Dentistry<\/strong> held in Valencia on March 9th under the organization of the Pierre Fauchard Academy<\/strong><\/a> and the University of Valencia itself. A teaching activity that fully affects the Academy’s mission: to influence the new trends in dentistry and professional ethic. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"Dr.“We must never forget the morality of human actions, since ethics is innate to us because, as the American psychologist Lawrence Kolhberg<\/strong>, promoter of the theory of Moral Development, says. At birth we have a moral discipline that the environment will be responsible for modeling”, explained Ustrell, who also wanted to publicly convey his thanks to the organizers for their excellent reception. “No matter where we come from, the substantial thing is maintaining academic freedom for research and transmitting it”, said the academician. <\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond his work at the School of Dentistry at the University of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bUstrell is director of the Odontological Museum of Catalonia<\/a><\/strong> and president of the Brotherhood of Saint Apollonia<\/strong> in Barcelona. He chaired the Oral Health Commission<\/strong> of the Catalan Government<\/a><\/strong> and is founder and vicepresident of the Spanish Society of Integrated Children’s Dentistry<\/strong><\/a> and founder also of the Spanish Academy of Historical Studies in Dentistry and Stomatology<\/strong>. He is also part of the American College of Dentists<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
