{"id":62955,"date":"2018-12-12T20:06:51","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T20:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/?p=62955"},"modified":"2018-12-18T14:35:08","modified_gmt":"2018-12-18T14:35:08","slug":"treasures-monetary-findings-spanish-national-congress-numismatics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/treasures-monetary-findings-spanish-national-congress-numismatics\/","title":{"rendered":"How to curb the treasure hunters"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The academician Albert Estrada directs the 16th Spanish National Congress of Numismatics, held in Barcelona<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-62533\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/tesoro-numismatico-dstNtc.jpg\" alt=\"tesoro numism\u00e1tico\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/academicians\/dr-albert-estrada-rius\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Albert Estrada<\/strong><\/a>, corresponding academician of the <strong>Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), chief curator of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Numismatic Cabinet of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a> and member of the board of directors of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siaen.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ibero-American Society of Numismatic Studies<\/strong><\/a> (SIAEN), has directed the 16th Spanish National Congress of Numismatics, organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museunacional.cat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National Museum of Art of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a> between the past 28 and 30 November under the title<strong> &#8220;Tesoros y hallazgos monetarios: protecci\u00f3n, estudio y musealizaci\u00f3n&#8221;<\/strong> (Treasures and monetary findings: protection, study and musealization). It&#8217;s the first time that Barcelona hosts this meeting, promoted by SIAEN since its first edition.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by 120 congressmen from all over Spain who for three days had the opportunity to discuss a topic that in recent times has generated such spectacular news as the discovery of the Roman coin treasure of Tomares, in Seville, or the wreck of the Spanish galleon <strong>&#8220;San Jos\u00e9&#8221;<\/strong> on the coast of Colombia. The publication of the paper will be carried out by both the Spanish <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fnmt.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National Currency and Stamp Factory<\/strong><\/a> and the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, which houses the Numismatic Cabinet of Catalonia, one of the most outstanding in Europe.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_62539\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62539\" class=\"wp-image-62539 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Albert-Estrada-Rius-int.jpg\" alt=\"Albert Estrada Rius\" width=\"210\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Albert-Estrada-Rius-int.jpg 210w, https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Albert-Estrada-Rius-int-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-62539\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Albert Estrada Rius<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The inaugural lecture was given by <strong>Pere Pau Ripoll\u00e8s<\/strong>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uv.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Valencia<\/strong><\/a>, with the work <strong>&#8220;Estudio y divulgaci\u00f3n de tesoros y hallazgos monetarios peninsulares. Realidades y retos desde una comparativa internacional&#8221;<\/strong> (Study and dissemination of peninsular treasures and monetary findings. Realities and challenges from an international comparison). Afterwards, <strong>Francisca Chaves<\/strong>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.us.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Seville<\/strong><\/a>, intervened with\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Seis siglos de ocultaciones: del Tesoro de Cerro Colorado (Benahav\u00eds, M\u00e1laga) al de El Zaudin (Tomares, Seville)&#8221;<\/strong> (Six centuries of occultation: from the Treasure of Cerro Colorado (Benahavis, Malaga) to that of El Zaudin (Tomares, Seville)); <strong>F\u00e9lix Retamero<\/strong>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uab.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Autonomous University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.numisane.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Spanish Numismatic Association<\/strong><\/a>, with <strong>&#8220;Hallazgos monetarios y poderes pol\u00edticos. Algunos casos de \u00e9poca medieval&#8221;<\/strong> (Monetary findings and political powers, some cases from medieval times), and <strong>Carmen Marcos<\/strong> and <strong>Paloma Otero<\/strong>, from the Spanish <a href=\"http:\/\/www.man.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National Archaeological Museum<\/strong><\/a>, with <strong>&#8220;A prop\u00f3sito de la carga de la Mercedes. Tesoros y Modernidad&#8221;<\/strong> (About the burden of the Mercedes. Treasures and Modernity).
