{"id":62952,"date":"2018-12-12T19:42:59","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T19:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/?p=62952"},"modified":"2018-12-18T14:43:35","modified_gmt":"2018-12-18T14:43:35","slug":"forty-years-of-democracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/forty-years-of-democracy\/","title":{"rendered":"Forty years of democracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Teresa Freixes moderates a massive debate on the validity of the Spanish Constitution with Alfonso Guerra, Arias-Salgado and Eugenio Gay<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/academicians\/dra-teresa-freixes-sanjuan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Teresa Freixes<\/strong><\/a>, professor of Constitutional Law at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uab.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Autonomous University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>, full \u200b\u200bacademician and secretary of the <strong>Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), moderated last December 11 along with<strong> Josep Maria Castell\u00e0<\/strong>, professor of Constitutional Law at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ub.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>, \u200b\u200bthe debate <strong>&#8220;La Constituci\u00f3n, 40 a\u00f1os de democracia&#8221;<\/strong> (The Constitution, 40 years of democracy), which on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Magna Carta celebrated the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icab.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bar Association of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clubtocqueville.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Club Tocqueville<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-62548\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/constitucion-espanola-dstNtc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"276\" \/>The session was attended by <strong>Alfonso Guerra<\/strong>, former vice-president of the Spanish Government; <strong>Rafael Arias-Salgado<\/strong>, former minister of Territorial Administration, of the Presidency and Development, and <strong>Eugenio Gay<\/strong>, former vice-president of the Spanish <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tribunalconstitucional.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Constitutional Court<\/strong><\/a>. The attendance was multitudinous.<\/p>\n<p>The act was opened by the dean of the Barcelona lawyers, <strong>Eug\u00e8nia Gay<\/strong>, to later give the floor to Guerra and Arias-Salgado, who in their long political career add the honour of having been members of the constituent assembly that ratified the Magna Carta. Both highlighted the value of the Constitution as a text of integration and consensus and analysed the ups and downs surrounding its development.
