The Clar\u00f3s Clinic<\/strong> <\/a>organised its 86th Temporal Bone Dissection Course<\/strong> at its facilities in Viladecans on October 22 and 23. This edition was attended by doctors specialised in otolaryngology from Singapore, Kuwait, Portugal, Cameroon, Israel, United Kingdom and Algeria. The direction of the course was the responsibility of its promoter, Pedro Clar\u00f3s<\/strong><\/a>, director and founder of the Clar\u00f3s Clinic and the Clar\u00f3s Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and vice-president of the Governing Board of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) .<\/p>\n Under his guidance, the assistants were able to carry out practices of dissection of the temporal bone during two full days on real skulls, as well as to attend the interactive conferences that were instructed as post-university training. During the sessions they witnessed surgeries by Clar\u00f3s himself. The format of the course is eminently practical and is followed by a dissection manual written in three languages \u200b\u200b(French, English and Spanish), and with drawings made by the instructor himself. The theoretical sessions are half an hour long with plenty of images and videos for the group of participants to become familiar with what they should do in the practices.<\/p>\n These courses began in 1983 in Barcelona, \u200b\u200balready under the direction of Pedro Clar\u00f3s. During this period some 3,000 medical specialists have already passed through its classrooms. They were designed to train surgeons in the most complex and advanced techniques and although they last only two days the schedule is very extensive, of more than 12 hours a day. They have a validation of 2.5 academic credits and are recognised by the Catalan Government<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n The participation of RAED in these courses as a collaborating entity since 2017 and the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology<\/strong><\/a> since 2000 confirms the positioning of this academic discipline as a reference in the specialty of otorhinolaryngological surgery. The next Temporal Bone Dissection Course will be the 87th and will take place on November 19 and 20, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
