The Royal Academy celebrates its IV International Act-European Congress of Interdisciplinary Research<\/h2>\n

The Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) will hold between July 11 and 18 its IV International Act-European Congress of Interdisciplinary Research<\/strong> in various capitals of the Mediterranean, after doing it last year in the most prominent cities of the Baltic. The sessions are open to the public in general, which can coexist with the speakers, including several Nobel laureates, in the cruise that will take the delegation to the different scenarios. During the journey, the RAED will hold several academic events in which some thirty papers will be presented and will host two new Nobel laureates: Barry Barish<\/strong>, Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017, and Richard Schrock<\/strong>, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2005. Nobel laureates and academicians Jerome Friedman<\/strong><\/a> and Aaron Ciechanover<\/strong><\/a>, as well the cardinal and honorary member Llu\u00eds Mart\u00ednez Sistach<\/strong><\/a>, will also be part of the expedition.<\/p>\n

Participants will embark on a cruise that will depart from Barcelona to stop at the Corsican port of Ajaccio, where they will make a private visit to the house of Napoleon Bonaparte<\/strong> and the Fesch Museum<\/strong><\/a>, considered one of the most important in France for its collection of Italian painting, only comparable to the Louvre Museum<\/strong><\/a>. Its impressive collection includes works by Titian<\/strong>, Veronese<\/strong> and Botticelli<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

The next destination of the expedition will be the Vatican City, where the RAED will hold an academic event at the facilities of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences<\/strong><\/a>, where the new RAED honorary academicians Barry Barish and Richard Schrock will participate, in addition to the also honorary members Jerome Friedman, Rosal\u00eda Arteaga<\/strong><\/a> and Llu\u00eds Mart\u00ednez Sistach and the full academicians Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo<\/strong><\/a>, Jos\u00e9 Luis Salido<\/strong><\/a>, Maria \u00c0ngels Calvo<\/strong><\/a> and Jordi Mart\u00ed<\/strong><\/a>. On the part of the Pontifical Academy will participate the also academician of the RAED Aaron Ciechanover and its great chancellor, Monsignor Marcelo S\u00e1nchez Sorondo<\/strong>. Participants will discuss “Los retos de la ciencia y el humanismo actual vistos desde la perspectiva de las academias cient\u00edficas”<\/strong> (“The challenges of science and humanism today viewed from the perspective of scientific academies”).<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, S\u00e1nchez Sorondo and the president of the Governing Board of the RAED, Alfredo Rocafort<\/strong><\/a>, will lay the foundations to develop in Rome during the second semester of 2019 a joint academic session on “Cambio del clima, la salud, los movimientos migratorios y las repercusiones sociales, humanas y \u00e9ticas que tienen estos fen\u00f3menos globales”<\/strong> (“Climate change, health, migratory movements and the social, human and ethical repercussions of these global phenomena”). An act that will have as fundamental axis of discussion the encyclical of Pope Francisco “Laudato Si”<\/strong>. The participants will conclude their stay with a private visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of Saint Peter.<\/p>\n

The delegation will also visit Florence, where it will stop at the Basilica of the Holy Cross and have lunch at the renowned Tuscan restaurant Il Borgo San Jacopo<\/strong>. They will stop in Portofino, Genoa and Antibes before finishing his journey in Mallorca, where they will visit the Carthusian of Valldemosa, a place of great relevance for the history of music since the composer Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chopin<\/strong> lived there for a while with the writer George Sand<\/strong>. Participants will make a guided tour of its facilities, a scientific session will be held in which the historical and musical connotations of the charterhouse in the life of Chopin will be discussed and then the renowned pianist Iv\u00e1n Mart\u00edn<\/strong> will offer a concert in which he will be very present the work of the great Polish composer.<\/p>\n
