{"id":46092,"date":"2018-05-29T09:49:40","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T09:49:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raed.academy\/?p=46092"},"modified":"2018-05-31T10:01:30","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T10:01:30","slug":"humanitarian-mission-gambia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/humanitarian-mission-gambia\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission Gambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Clar\u00f3s Foundation performs about 50 successful surgical interventions in one of the most needy countries in Africa<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-45981\" src=\"http:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mision-Gambia-Fundacion-Claros-3.jpg\" alt=\"Misi\u00f3n humanitaria a Gambia por la Fundaci\u00f3n Clar\u00f3s\" width=\"489\" height=\"263\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/academicians\/dr-pedro-claros-blanch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Pedro Clar\u00f3s<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and vice president of the Governing Board of the <strong>Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), led the humanitarian mission that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacionclaros.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Clar\u00f3s Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, which he founded and chairs, carried out in Gambia between the past 14 and 21 April with the support of the RAED. Eleven members of the Foundation joined the local staff of the <strong>Serrekunda Hospital<\/strong> to perform about fifty surgical interventions (cleft lip, thyroidectomy, frontal tumour, keloid scar, facial cyst, tireoglosus cyst, cleft palate, facial lymphangioma, other pharyngeal surgeries, fibroscopy larynx, antrochoanal polyp, arteriovenous fistulas) to which other otorhinolaryngology patients consulted, 30 hearing aid adaptations and 70 audiometries were added. All interventions were successful and resolved cases that local health had not been able to address.<\/p>\n<p>Established more than two decades ago, the Clar\u00f3s Foundation has already carried out more than a hundred missions in twenty countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, where it has carried out interventions on neck and face tumours, face reconstructions by traumatisms and tropical diseases and even amputations. Surgeries to which the beneficiaries did not have access. At a rate of between six and seven a year, the Foundation has far exceeded the hundred missions.
