Dra. Rosal\u00eda Arteaga Serrano<\/p><\/div>\n

Rosal\u00eda Arteaga<\/strong><\/a>, former president of Ecuador and honorary academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), and Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and president of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research of the RAED, participated in the past 14 and 15 of December in the fifth edition of the International Tourism Forum<\/strong> held by the University of Las Palmas<\/strong><\/a> in the Gran Canarian municipality of Maspalomas. The event had the extraordinary participation of HM King Philip VI<\/strong> and various national and international authorities and speakers, including two of the most important international experts in the field of tourism, Jafar Jafari<\/strong> and Dimitros Bujalis<\/strong>, who will also participate in a conference that will be organized by RAED next April.<\/p>\n

\"InternationalCalvo participated in a session on the importance of proximity products in gastronomic tourism, which increasingly attracts a more sensitive public with the so-called kilometre 0, while Arteaga reflected on the satisfaction of residents in tourist areas. This session addressed the need to minimise the impact of the tourism phenomenon on the local population.<\/p>\n

The forum also addressed other topics of great interest to the sector, one of the engines of the Spanish economy. A round table discussion analysed the strategies of tourism promotion through sports, and another tackled the sustainability challenges that hotels must take into account in order to care for the environment. Throughout the two days, 90 papers and other contributions were presented by university professionals active in the field of tourism.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
