\"PortraitJes\u00fas Gerardo Sotomayor<\/strong><\/a>, corresponding academician for Mexico of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), has donated\u00a0to the Library of the institution his work “El secreto profesional”<\/strong> (Professional Secrecy), where he deals with the origin and current state of the privilege of client confidentiality guaranteed by law in most Western countries to doctors, lawyers, notaries, accountants, officials and even priests. Sotomayor deals with the religious origin of secrecy in virtually all civilisations and traces a path that brings us right up to its current legal status. The book has become a work of reference in various Latin American countries.<\/p>\n

A graduate of the Autonomous University of Coahuila<\/strong><\/a>, with a doctorate awarded by the Autonomous University of Northwest Mexico<\/strong><\/a>, Sotomayor has had a long career as a lawyer, teacher and researcher. He was director of the Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Coahuila and established the first postgraduate studies in Law in Coahuila and Durango. After a long career as head of various courts, he is currently a magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of the State of Coahuila<\/strong>. His career has earned him several recognitions, including the Centennial Medal of the RAED. He has published numerous specialised monographs in Advocacy and Criminal and Civil Law and has brought to light the details of historical judicial processes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
