Santiago Castell\u00e0<\/strong><\/a>, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), <\/span><\/span>argues in an article that has been echoed different ways how the referendum on independence raised by the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia violates democratic principles and offers few guarantees of independence and representativeness.<\/p>\n

“It seems that all efforts are exclusively aimed at achieving independence, with or without a majority, and not for the Catalans to express themselves freely -Castell\u00e0 says-. And it seems that at the end of the whole process an organized referendum without democratic guarantees, and which does not feel called large part of the population, is the argument for a unilateral proclamation of independence, which only wants a non-majority of the population.<\/p>\n
