{"id":19037,"date":"2016-12-12T09:23:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-12T09:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raed.academy\/?p=19037"},"modified":"2017-05-08T10:28:57","modified_gmt":"2017-05-08T10:28:57","slug":"jose-ramon-calvo-compares-the-battle-of-tobacco-companies-against-the-harmful-effects-of-tobacco-with-the-denial-of-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/en\/jose-ramon-calvo-compares-the-battle-of-tobacco-companies-against-the-harmful-effects-of-tobacco-with-the-denial-of-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo compares the battle of tobacco companies against the harmful effects of tobacco with the denial of climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo<\/strong>,\u00a0elected academician of the <strong>Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), was admitted as full academician of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.academiadelanzarote.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Humanities of Lanzarote<\/strong><\/a> during a ceremony held in Arrecife on 12 December. <span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">Calvo read the speech\u00a0<strong>&#8220;Cambio clim\u00e1tico y tabaco: el negocio de la duda&#8221;<\/strong> (Climate change and tobacco: the business of doubt), where he equated the problem of smoking and the ways in which tobacco workers attempted to prevent the knowledge of its health consequences from reaching the general public with<\/span> c<span class=\"\">urrent problem of global warming and climate change.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>Calvo holds a PhD in Medicine and is a Professor of Health Education at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulpgc.es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>University of Las Palmas<\/strong><\/a>. In the RAED has contributed to the implementation of its <strong>Institute of Interdisciplinary Research<\/strong>.
