Born in 1942 in Calle Junquera, he is the first person in the world to hold nine doctorates in disciplines as diverse as engineering, theology, philosophy, medicine and economics. He served as rector of the <strong>University of Cantabria<\/strong> and has published more than one hundred scientific books, proudly proclaiming his C\u00e1diz roots wherever he goes,\u201d states the report issued by the <strong>Municipal Committee for Honours and Distinctions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the academic, the carnival performer <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Garc\u00eda Coss\u00edo<\/strong>, known as \u2018Selu\u2019; trade-unionist <strong>Carmen P\u00e9rez Fuentes<\/strong>; neighbourhood leader <strong>Jos\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>; scientist <strong>Carola Garc\u00eda de Vinuesa<\/strong>; and basketball player <strong>Bego\u00f1a Garc\u00eda Pi\u00f1ero<\/strong> were also named <strong>Favourite Sons and Daughters of C\u00e1diz<\/strong>. The title of <strong>Adopted Son or Daughter of C\u00e1diz<\/strong>, intended for people born elsewhere who have shown a recognised vocation of service to the city, was awarded to journalist and writer <strong>Juan Jos\u00e9 T\u00e9llez Rubio<\/strong>; teacher <strong>Ana Rodr\u00edguez Pen\u00edn<\/strong>; former advertising director of <strong>Diario de C\u00e1diz, Ildefonso Marqu\u00e9s Clavijo<\/strong>; actress and carnival performer <strong>Ana L\u00f3pez Segovia<\/strong>; director of the <strong>Andalusia Film Office, Carlos Rosado Cobi\u00e1n<\/strong>; and politician <strong>Carmen Romero L\u00f3pez<\/strong>. The <strong>Gold Medals of C\u00e1diz<\/strong>, which recognise institutions of all kinds, were awarded to the shop <strong>Casa Seraf\u00edn<\/strong>, the <strong>T\u00eda Norica Company<\/strong>, <strong>San Rafael Nursery and Primary School<\/strong>, and the image of <strong>Mar\u00eda Sant\u00edsima de las Penas Coronada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Dr Francisco Gonz\u00e1lez de Posada<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_184231\" style=\"width: 279px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-184231\" class=\"wp-image-184231 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Francisco-Gonzalez-de-Posada-imgcp-0.73.webp\" alt=\"Francisco Gonz\u00e1lez de Posada\" width=\"269\" height=\"370\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-184231\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-184231\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Francisco Gonz\u00e1lez de Posada<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Over recent weeks, the academic has also maintained his intense activity as a populariser of science, delivering his traditional cosmology seminar as part of the <strong>University of Cantabria Summer Courses<\/strong>. This year\u2019s seminar was entitled <strong>\u201cContemporary cosmology: science and philosophy\u201d<\/strong>, following earlier courses on <strong>\u201cCosmology: current problems\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cCosmology: on matter and energy\u201d<\/strong>. The sessions, open to the general public and worth up to one university credit for undergraduate students, were held at the <strong>Official School of Languages<\/strong> in the Cantabrian town of Laredo. \u201cThe course fully assumes the basic knowledge involved in the relevant areas of physics, but approaches them from the perspective of their philosophical foundations and mathematical formalisation. It therefore offers a historical and philosophical review integrating the intellectual contributions of physics, mathematics and philosophy, while remaining open to the future. In this respect, it focuses on providing a general overview of the problems raised today by the study of the universe, encouraging reflection and facilitating the critical, personal construction of answers to those problems,\u201d the academic explains. In the same field, the expert has delivered the more specialised lectures <strong>\u201cThe Universe and God\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cThe Universe of the Big Bang\u201d<\/strong> in a range of venues.<\/p>\n<p>Gonz\u00e1lez de Posada is a civil engineer and holds a doctorate in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, a degree in Philosophy and Humanities from the <strong>Pontifical University of Salamanca<\/strong>, and a degree in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. He received the <strong>Medal of Honour for the Promotion of Invention<\/strong> and also served as rector of the University of Cantabria. He is a full member of the <strong>Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain<\/strong> and a member of the <strong>World Academy of Art and Science<\/strong>; a corresponding member of the <strong>Royal Academy of Fine Arts of C\u00e1diz<\/strong>, the <strong>Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando<\/strong> and the <strong>Royal Academy of Sciences, Fine Arts and Letters of \u00c9cija<\/strong>; and an honorary member of the <strong>Academy of Medical Sciences of Cantabria<\/strong>, the <strong>Royal Academy of Valencian Culture<\/strong>, the <strong>Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of C\u00e1diz<\/strong> and the <strong>Royal Academy of Medicine of the Canary Islands<\/strong>.
