Frederic Borr\u00e0s<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Honorary President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Catalonia<\/strong> and Numerary Member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors<\/strong> (READ), received the Professional Career Award<\/strong> granted by the Catalan Association of Accounting and Management<\/strong> (ACCID) on 26 May from its President, the also Numerary Member of the Royal Academy Montserrat Casanovas<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting at the University of Barcelona<\/strong>. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the 9th Conference<\/strong> held by ACCID and the Accounting and Control Faculty Group<\/strong> \u2014 a section of the Association itself, chaired by Jordi Mart\u00ed<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Professor of Economics and Accounting at the University of Barcelona<\/strong> and Numerary Member and member of the Governing Board<\/strong> of the READ \u2014 at the University of Girona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Under the theme \u201cFrom global protectionism to local impact: challenges for accounting and management\u201d<\/strong>, the conference brought together more than 100 participants, both in person and online, interested in analysing the effects of geopolitical uncertainty, market fragmentation, and new economic scenarios on business management. The event featured professionals and experts from leading organisations such as PortAventura World, Volotea, Cuatrecasas, Crowe, Caja de Ingenieros, RSM, Abacus<\/strong> and Lawesone Catalunya<\/strong>, among others, who shared experiences, case studies and practical knowledge with attendees.<\/p>\n

Borr\u00e0s is a member of the Global Board<\/strong> of the Association for Corporate Growth<\/strong>, the leading international community of professionals dedicated to mergers, acquisitions and corporate growth. He was recognised as an honorary member of IECnet<\/strong>, one of the leading international firms in auditing, tax advisory, and consulting, after a long and successful career with the firm, during which he served on its Board<\/strong> of<\/strong> Directors<\/strong> for eight years and as Chairman<\/strong> of the Audit Practice. The academic worked for almost four decades at KPMG<\/strong>, where he became partner in charge of the Barcelona, Girona, Palma and Andorra offices.<\/p>\n

Dr Frederic Borr\u00e0s<\/p><\/div>\n

The Catalan Association of Accounting and Management was established in 2002 to serve as a link between professionals and academics in Catalonia working in accounting. It was created following an agreement between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Catalonia<\/strong>, the Association of Economists of Catalonia<\/strong> and the Association of Commercial and Business Graduates of Barcelona<\/strong>. Subsequently, the Association of Secretaries, Comptrollers and Treasurers of Catalonia<\/strong> and the Official Association of Administrative Managers of Catalonia<\/strong> joined the organisation. Its purpose is to complement the work carried out by other professional associations and bodies by providing a platform for opinion and debate on current accounting issues, promoting research and the presentation of new developments in accounting and management, publishing specialist publications, organising lectures, conferences and congresses, improving the transparency of financial information and promoting best practices in the dissemination of financial information.<\/p>\n

For its part, the Accounting and Control Faculty Group is an organisation within ACCID that brings together accounting and control lecturers from Catalan universities and business schools. It seeks to support its members in their teaching, research and knowledge-transfer activities through its own initiatives, and to serve as a meeting point for all accounting and control lecturers, promoting the exchange of knowledge, experiences and working materials. The READ and ACCID have maintained a collaboration agreement since 2016, which has led them to carry out numerous scientific activities and to jointly publish the reference manual \u201cHow to conduct research?\u201d<\/strong> (Profit Editorial), a work that included the participation of several Numerary Members who presented the main research techniques applied to different fields of knowledge, while also addressing aspects such as the writing and presentation of scientific works in their various academic formats: research paper, bachelor\u2019s degree final project, master\u2019s thesis and doctoral thesis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
