The institution recognises his experience and leadership capacity. \u201cCalvo will bring great value to the university, contributing to the development of effective human capital strategies that support our vision, mission and objectives,\u201d the centre itself stated in the press release announcing his appointment.<\/p>\n<p>With the challenge of becoming one of the country\u2019s leading academic institutions, the University of Fujairah was formally established a year ago from a university college, setting out an ambitious strategic development plan supported by the government programme <strong>Vision 2031<\/strong>, in which the academic work will be a fundamental part. As <strong>65ym\u00e1s<\/strong> explains in a feature published on 9 April about Calvo\u2019s appointment, the university is committed to training future leaders who will contribute effectively to sustainable development, guided by its core principle: <strong>\u201cStudents of today, leaders of tomorrow.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As for the Emirate of Fujairah, the report by <strong>Pablo Recio<\/strong> continues, it occupies a strategic enclave whose importance has become clearly evident in light of the current armed conflict in the region, since it is the only emirate located outside the Strait of Hormuz and is therefore the natural outlet for most of the oil and gas produced by the Gulf countries when the area is subject to restrictions such as the present ones.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-183313\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Universidad-de-Fuyaira-Emiratos-Arabes-Unidos-dst.webp\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Universidad-de-Fuyaira-Emiratos-Arabes-Unidos-dst.webp 600w, https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Universidad-de-Fuyaira-Emiratos-Arabes-Unidos-dst-440x264.webp 440w\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" \/>Although it is a smaller place than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, also part of the United Arab Emirates, it likewise offers a very interesting cultural and scientific scene, with advanced research centres, a philharmonic orchestra, a striking <strong>\u201cmusical road\u201d<\/strong> that greets those entering the emirate with a fragment of the <strong>\u201cOde to Joy,\u201d<\/strong> the <strong>House of Philosophy<\/strong> and the <strong>House of Chess<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Calvo was recently appointed International Strategic Adviser to the <strong>Regional Centre for Information Technology and Software Engineering<\/strong>, one of the pioneering institutions in social and technological innovation in the Arab world. This body is internationally recognised for its close links with multilateral organisations and is headquartered in Cairo. He had previously served as Strategic Adviser to the <strong>Barcelona Supercomputing Center\u2013National Supercomputing Center<\/strong>, a public consortium made up of the <strong>Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities<\/strong>, the <strong>Government of Catalonia<\/strong> and the <strong>Polytechnic University of Catalonia<\/strong>, recognised for driving the different
