In an increasingly interconnected and globalized world, the importance of academic diplomacy cannot be underestimated. Country ambassadors play a crucial role in fostering international relations and strengthening collaboration between nations. Likewise, in the academic field, our extraordinary ambassadors stand as representatives of intellectual excellence, the pursuit of knowledge and the promotion of fundamental academic values.<\/p>\n

The figure of an Extraordinary Ambassador of the Royal European Academy of Doctors merges these two worlds uniquely. Like an ambassador for a country, this title carries significant responsibility. Our Extraordinary Ambassadors are not only professionals, academics and experts in their fields, but they also act as a bridge between our institution and the outside world. They are ambassadors of innovative research, critical thinking and respect for knowledge.<\/p>\n

By awarding this degree, we are not only honoring an exceptional individual, but we are also reaffirming our commitment to promoting scholarship and international collaboration. Our Extraordinary Ambassadors represent the diversity of disciplines, cultures and perspectives that enrich our Academy, and are ambassadors of unity in diversity.<\/p>\n

In this new chapter of our history, I urge the academic community to support and collaborate closely with our Extraordinary Ambassadors, who will carry our banner of academic excellence around the world. Together, we can promote a global dialogue in search of knowledge and contribute to the progress of society through research and education.<\/p>\n

The Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED) stands as a beacon of wisdom and excellence on the international intellectual scene. Founded in the distant year of 1914, this venerable public law institution has woven a rich and centuries-old history.<\/p>\n

Its members, a unique amalgam of distinguished academics and professors, embrace a kaleidoscope of disciplines, encompassing the most diverse branches of human knowledge.<\/p>\n

At the dawn of the 21st century, the RAED embarked on an exciting journey towards modernity. In a world that is evolving by leaps and bounds towards the digital, the technological and the global, this institution was not left behind. It underwent a complete metamorphosis, adapting to rapidly changing times. It has incorporated bold strategic communication and development tools, skillfully navigating the waters of the technological revolution.<\/p>\n

But the transformation of the RAED was not limited to the superficial. Its ranks have been enriched by the addition of brilliant minds from around the world, including nineteen Nobel Prize-winning academics. This range of talent and experience has brought new life and vigor to the institution, taking it to even higher horizons.<\/p>\n

In 2018, the RAED took a momentous step by creating its Foundation. This entity, imbued with the mission of bringing the vast treasure of knowledge guarded by the Academy to society as a whole, has become a beacon of intellectual illumination. Its purpose is to empower society, offering solid support to the various activities and projects carried out by the Academy.<\/p>\n

The Royal European Academy of Doctors stands as an outstanding “think tank”, a kind of renowned intellectual crucible that manages academic knowledge with a constant search for excellence. Its influence is felt positively in society, as well as in business and political spheres, both at national, European and international levels.<\/p>\n

The appointment of an Extraordinary Ambassador is a testament to the importance we place on the power of education, research and global collaboration.<\/p>\n

I ask the entire Academy to join us in this historic moment and look forward to the positive impact our Extraordinary Ambassadors will have in promoting our mission and values.<\/p>\n

Presentation<\/h2>\r\nThe Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED) has been active for more than a century as a body governed by public law. Founded in 1914, its membership includes a uniquely diverse and prestigious group of university professors and other academics from a wide range of fields. The recent history of this illustrious organization has seen comprehensive reforms designed to adapt it to a new, digital, technological and globalized society. It has incorporated new strategic tools for communication and development, and admitted European and American academics and scientists, including nineteen Nobel laureates. The Foundation was created in 2018, with a mission to disseminate the knowledge of which we are custodians among society at large, and foster its support of the RAED\u2019s activities.\r\n\r\nThe RAED is also a prestigious think tank, which manages academic knowledge on a basis of excellence and positive impact on society, including the business community and the world of national, European and international politics. As part of the organization\u2019s efforts to prosper, both globally and in terms of its structure and international representation, it has created the post of Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED.\r\n

The Extraordinary Ambassador\u2019s Forum<\/h3>\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador\u2019s Forum is a new body falling under the auspices of the RAED\u2019s Institute of Cooperation and International Relations (ICI). It includes national and international figures and organizations that take on a commitment to work for the mission of the Academy and its Foundation; with actions, projects and collaboration initiatives that allow us to create synergies, grow and expand.\r\n

The Extraordinary Ambassador<\/h3>\r\nThe person or body appointed Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED is to be proposed by the ICI (Institute of Cooperation and International Relations of the RAED) and approved by its governing board. Those wishing to be considered as candidates should submit a letter of application and detailed academic and personal curriculum vitae. If the aspirant is a company or organization, the application should include a copy of its statutes or articles of association, details of its organizational or commercial history, and a covering letter from its highest representative.\r\n\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador shall be familiar with the functions, rights and limitations that the post entails, and commit to uphold them honestly and unequivocally, in accordance with the joining agreement forming an integral part of this document, hereinafter referred to collectively as \u201cthe agreement\u201d.\r\n

Mission of the Extraordinary Ambassador<\/h3>\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador shall promote the interests of the RAED, while establishing relationships with governments, influential persons and other bodies and organizations, with a view to disseminating knowledge of the activities of the RAED and its Foundation regarding all aspects of advances in the arts and sciences, health and technology.\r\n\r\nThe mission shall include submission to the chair of the RAED\u2019s Institute of International Cooperation (ICI), by the Extraordinary Ambassador, of an annual written report detailing the activities proposed as part of the Ambassador\u2019s assigned functions and the needs and interests of the Royal European Academy of Doctors and its Foundation.\r\n

Rights of the Extraordinary Ambassador<\/h3>\r\n
    \r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall be publicly recognized every year at an event held at the headquarters of the RAED, which shall include the award of a medal and of a diploma bestowing accreditation as Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall have priority access to the activities of the RAED and its Foundation, and shall occupy a reserved seat of honour at the institution\u2019s events. The Ambassador shall also receive a copy of all publications released, and shall be assigned a special chapter in the RAED\u2019s annual report.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall be entitled to propose new members of the Academy and submit proposals to the governing board regarding those activities that the Ambassador deems appropriate for fulfilment of the institution\u2019s purposes, referring where necessary to the membership of the Ambassador\u2019s Forum.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall be interviewed personally for publication in the Newsletter, and shall be assigned a new \u201cExtraordinary Ambassadors\u201d page on the RAED website.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall produce articles on particular areas of knowledge and on activities relating to this professional appointment, and also regarding the Ambassador\u2019s own company or organization, which are to appear on the RAED website and in its printed publications.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall be invited to exercise lectureships organized by the RAED and its Foundation, and may participate in the writing of unpublished articles and in the development of initiatives falling within the framework of outreach projects carried out by the RAED and its Foundation.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The RAED and its Foundation shall invite the Ambassador to public and private events designed to establish new relationships and promote networking.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • The Ambassador shall encourage scientific collaboration and may invite members of the RAED and its Foundation to participate in projects and initiatives that the Ambassador promotes as part of the assigned functions.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Governance<\/h3>\r\nThe presidency of the Forum of the Extraordinary Ambassador shall be held by the chair of the RAED\u2019s Institute for International Cooperation, while the general secretary shall be the Ambassador holding most seniority by date of appointment. The mandate of the chair of the forum shall be ex officio, and that of the general secretary two years; renewable for a further two.\r\n

    Joining agreement of the Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED and its Foundation<\/h2>\r\n

    Objectives<\/h3>\r\nThe main purpose of this agreement is to establish the requirements for forming part of the Forum of the Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED and of its Foundation.\r\n\r\nUpon signing the agreement, the Ambassador affirms having read it and understood it, and undertakes to fulfil it.\r\n

    Economic contribution<\/h3>\r\nOnce the appointment of the candidate as Ambassador of the RAED has been ratified by the governing board, and after formal communication of acceptance, the individual named as Ambassador shall deposit a donation, in the account of the RAED Foundation, of six thousand euros (\u20ac6,000), or of ten thousand euros (\u20ac10,000) if the Ambassador is a company or organization, and shall then receive the corresponding certificate for tax purposes.\r\n\r\nFrom the second year onwards, the annual donation shall total 50% of the amount donated in the first year.\r\n

    Code of ethics<\/h3>\r\nThe code of ethics of the Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED and its Foundation shall include the following undertakings:\r\n
      \r\n \t
    1. To act in accordance with the founding mission of the RAED.<\/li>\r\n \t
    2. To support and promote the initiatives of the RAED and the projects of its Foundation.<\/li>\r\n \t
    3. To act honestly and in accordance with the RAED\u2019s guidelines.<\/li>\r\n \t
    4. Not to make misleading or inaccurate statements or representations regarding the RAED and its Foundation.<\/li>\r\n \t
    5. To prioritise attendance at RAED events.<\/li>\r\n \t
    6. To identify and promote the RAED in the course of its relations and cooperation.<\/li>\r\n \t
    7. To make proper use the name of the RAED and its Foundation.<\/li>\r\n \t
    8. To create links and establish relationships with other organizations and individuals with a view to recruiting further Extraordinary Ambassadors.<\/li>\r\n \t
    9. To generate content and valuable ideas for publication and dissemination via the RAED.<\/li>\r\n \t
    10. To participate in the group of Extraordinary Ambassadors promoting progress of the RAED.<\/li>\r\n \t
    11. Not to assign rights or obligations as Ambassador under the terms of this agreement without first obtaining written consent from the RAED to do so.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nAll and any violation of the above code of ethics may result in corresponding measures, including but not limited to termination as Extraordinary Ambassador.\r\n

      Use of the brand<\/h3>\r\nThe RAED must previously approve, in writing and as applicable, all and any use of its corporate image and distinctive branding, as well as the scope of possible participation by the Extraordinary Ambassador in events or activities of a public nature.\r\n

      Privacy<\/h3>\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador authorizes the RAED to disclose the Ambassador\u2019s contact details to other members of the Forum and of the RAED, with a view to establishing new relationships and promoting networking.\r\n\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador of the RAED shall be identified as such whenever possible.\r\n

      Termination<\/h3>\r\nThe Extraordinary Ambassador may resign from the post by corresponding written submission to the chair of the RAED\u2019s Institute of International Cooperation.\r\n\r\nThe RAED shall terminate the agreement if it is not renewed, or if the Ambassador fails to abide by its terms and conditions.\r\n

      Applicable law<\/h3>\r\nThis agreement shall be subject to the laws of the Kingdom of Spain.\r\n
