He passed the final degree exam with the First Extraordinary Prize.<\/li>\n<li>PhD in Law <em>Cum Laude<\/em> (1987) from the UB, under the supervision of Professors Antonio Polo and Rafael Jim\u00e9nez de Parga.<\/li>\n<li>MBA from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esade.edu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ESADE<\/strong><\/a>, obtained simultaneously while completing his Law studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Linked to the Faculty of Law at the UB since 1968, in 1991 he obtained the position of Associate Professor of Commercial Law.<\/li>\n<li>He has taught at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaoceu.es\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CEU Abat Oliba University<\/strong><\/a> (Banking Law) and in the International Law Master\u2019s program at ESADE (Bankruptcy Law).<\/li>\n<li>Supervisor of several doctoral theses.<\/li>\n<li>Practiced law with his own firm since 1970 and served as Executive Director of the Legal Department of<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caixabank.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Caixa<\/a><\/strong> until 2012.<\/li>\n<li>On January 15, 2013, he was sworn in as a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.poderjudicial.es\/cgpj\/en\/Poder-Judicial\/Tribunal-Supremo\/Sala-de-Gobierno\/Composicion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justice of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Spain<\/a><\/strong>, a position to which he had been appointed in 2012.<\/li>\n<li>Member of various associations. Lecturer since 1973 in Banking, Bankruptcy, and Commercial Law. Author of numerous books and articles on contracts, Bankruptcy Law, and Civil Procedure Law. Pas\u00f3 el llamado examen de grado de su licenciatura con el Primer Premio Extraordinario. M\u00e1s tarde se doctor\u00f3 (1987) en Derecho con la m\u00e1xima distinci\u00f3n Cum Laude en la UB, bajo la direcci\u00f3n de sus maestros Dr. Antonio Polo y Dr. Rafael Jim\u00e9nez de Parga. Obtuvo simult\u00e1neamente, mientras acababa la carrera, un MBA por ESADE.<\/p>\r\n<p>Vinculado a la Facultad de Derecho desde 1968, obtuvo en 1991, la plaza de Profesor Titular de Derecho Mercantil en la misma. Tambi\u00e9n ha impartido clases en CEU Abad Oliba, en materia bancaria y en el M\u00e1ster de Derecho Internacional de ESADE, en materia concursal. Ha sido director de distintas tesis doctorales.<\/p>\r\n<p>Compatibiliz\u00f3 su carrera docente con el ejercicio de la abogac\u00eda con despacho abierto desde 1970 y la de Director Ejecutivo de la Asesor\u00eda Jur\u00eddica de La Caixa, hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2012.
