In 1984 he was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize by the University of Barcelona for his doctoral thesis \u201c<em>Privacy in Spanish Criminal Law<\/em>\u201d (later published as <em>Criminal Protection of Privacy: Privacy and Information Technology<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Since 1994, Full Professor of Criminal Law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Previously, he held the same position at the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.unican.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Cantabria<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udl.cat\/ca\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>University of Lleida<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>He has supervised numerous doctoral theses and participated in national and international research projects.<\/li>\n<li>In the 1980s and 1990s, he was a researcher at the <a href=\"https:\/\/csl.mpg.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law<\/strong><\/a> (Freiburg, Germany) and at the <a href=\"https:\/\/uni-freiburg.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Institute of Criminology and Economic Criminal Law<\/strong><\/a> of the University of Freiburg, under the supervision of Prof. K. En 1984 li va ser concedit el Premi extraordinari de Doctorat, per la Universitat de Barcelona amb la tesi doctoral \u201cLa intimitat en el Derecho Penal espanyol\u201d (posteriorment publicada sota el t\u00edtol La tutela penal de la intimidat: privacy e inform\u00e0tica).  Des de 1994 es Catedr\u00e0tic de Dret Penal en la Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona. Amb anterioritat va ser Catedr\u00e0tic en les Universitats de Cantabria (Santander) i de Lleida.\r\nHa estat director de nombroses tesis doctorals i ha participat en projectes d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 en l\u2019\u00e0mbit nacional e internacional. En els anys 80 i 90 va ser investigador en el Max Planck Institut f\u00fcr ausl\u00e4ndisches und internationsles Strafrecht (Freiburg. i. Br. Alemania) i en l\u2018Institut f\u00fcr Krominologie und Wirtschaftsstrafrecht (Universit\u00e4t  Freiburg i. Br. Alemania), sota la direcci\u00f3 del Prof, K. Tiedemann. Ha sigut professor visitant en Universitats italianes. \r\nEs autor de m\u00e9s de seixanta publicacions en el \u00e0mbit de la Dogm\u00e0tica del Derecho Penal y de la Pol\u00edtica-criminal. Es coautor y coordinador de la obra Comentarios al C\u00f3digo Penal Espa\u00f1ol, que dirigeix el professor Gonzalo Quintero Olivares.\r\nEs codirector de la revista Derecho i Proc\u00e9s Penal de l\u2018editorial Aranzadi, i membre del Comit\u00e8 Cient\u00edfic de la Revista l\u2019Indice Penale. \r\nEs advocat en exercici. En 1999 li va ser concedida la medalla del Iltre.Col.legi Advocats de Barcelona en atenci\u00f3 a la seva traject\u00f2ria personal y professional. En successives anualitats li ha estat concedida per l\u2018Associaci\u00f3 internacional de Best Lawyers, la menci\u00f3 de millor advocat en l\u2018\u00e0rea Dret Penal, nomenament que s\u2018ha revalidat per l\u2018any 2016.
