At the same institution, he has held various academic and teaching responsibilities: PhD Coordinator, Head of Studies, Department Director, Coordinator of the Secondary Education Master\u2019s Degree in the Geography Departments, and member of several Committees, among others.<\/li>\n<li>He has been a visiting professor at several Spanish, European and Latin American universities, mainly teaching doctoral courses. Among them are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utem.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Metropolitan Technological University of Chile (Santiago de Chile)<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubo.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bernardo O\u2019Higgins University (Santiago de Chile)<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unsj.edu.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National University of San Juan (Argentina)<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pucgoias.edu.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Pontifical Catholic University of Goi\u00e1s (Brazil)<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uesb.br\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>State University of Southwest Bahia (Brazil)<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unam.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>National Autonomous University of Mexico (Mexico)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>His research focuses on palaeoenvironments and Holocene and Pleistocene glacial and periglacial chronologies in mid-latitude mountains (Eastern Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada and Central Andes). His studies on the historical reconstruction of the summit landscapes of Sierra Nevada during the Little Ice Age and on the evolution of the current Mediterranean mountain landscape (dynamics, potential, management and heritage value) are particularly noteworthy.<\/li>\n<li>He has made significant contributions to the field of Geography Didactics, especially regarding its curricular and educational value in secondary and compulsory education levels.<\/li>\n<li>His research work, including the supervision of doctoral theses and master\u2019s dissertations, has been carried out within competitive projects, particularly since 2000 within the Consolidated Research Group <em>Landscape and Palaeoenvironments in the Mediterranean Mountain<\/em> (2009SGR-0868 and 2014SGR-373), where he served as Principal Investigator. He was also Director of the <em>Landscape Service<\/em> at the University of Barcelona until 2014, promoting the practical application of this research.<\/li>\n<li>He is part of the editorial boards of thirteen journals specialized in geomorphology and related sciences.<\/li>\n<li>He is a numerary member of leading scientific societies, in which he has held positions of responsibility, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/segeomorfologia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Spanish Society of Geomorphology<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.permafrost.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>International Permafrost Association \u2013 Spain Group<\/strong><\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geografos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Association of Spanish Geographers<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/realsociedadgeografica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Royal Geographical Society<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>PUBLICATIONS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Author of more than three hundred scientific works including articles in indexed journals, books and book chapters, as well as papers and presentations at national and international conferences. Anteriorment, el 1981, 1985 i 1986 va obtenir en la referida Universitat les categories de Professor Agregat, Catedr\u00e0tic d\u2019Escola Universit\u00e0ria de Formaci\u00f3 del Professorat i Professor Titular de Universitat, respectivament. El 27 d\u2019abril de 2004 va ingressar a la Reial Acad\u00e8mia de Doctors com a acad\u00e8mic de n\u00famero. En l\u2019acte de recepci\u00f3 va dissertar sobre el tema \"El conocimiento glaciar de Sierra Nevada. De la descripci\u00f3n ilustrada del siglo XVIII a la explicaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica actual\". Actualment, i des de 2014, \u00e9s professor em\u00e8rit de la Universitat de Barcelona.<\/p><p>Des de 1975 dedica l\u2019atenci\u00f3 preferent a la doc\u00e8ncia i a la recerca en el camp de la Geografia, en particular en temes relacionats amb la Geomorfologia d\u2019ambients freds i a la din\u00e0mica i evoluci\u00f3 dels sistemes naturals de muntanya. Aix\u00ed com, tamb\u00e9, al paper educatiu i did\u00e0ctic de la Geografia. Imparteix doc\u00e8ncia en l\u2019ensenyament universitari (Facultat de Geografia i Hist\u00f2ria de la Universitat de Barcelona), en els nivells de Grau, Llicenciatura, M\u00e0ster i Doctorat. En la mateixa Universitat, ha ocupat c\u00e0rrecs de responsabilitat docent i acad\u00e8mica (Coordinador de Doctorat, Cap d\u2019Estudis, Director de Departament, Coordinador del Master de Secund\u00e0ria en els Departaments de Geografia, Vocal en diferents Comissiones, etc.). Ha estat professor convidat a diverses universitats espanyoles, europees i hispanoamericanes, on ha impartit, preferentment, cursos de Doctorat. D\u2019entre aquestes darreres destaquem, p.e., Tecnol\u00f2gica Metropolitana de Xile (Santiago de Xile), Bernardo O\u00b4Higgins (Santiago de Xile), Nacional de San Juan (Argentina), Pontif\u00edcia Universitat Cat\u00f2lica de Goi\u00e0s (Brasil), Estadual do Sudoeste de Bah\u00eda (Brasil), Nacional Aut\u00f2noma de M\u00e8xic (M\u00e8xic).<\/p><p>En relaci\u00f3 a l\u2019activitat investigadora, destaquen els estudis sobre geomorfologia, paleoambients i cronologia glaciar y periglacial holocena i pleistocena en muntanyes de latituds mitjanes (Pirineu Oriental, Sierra Nevada, Andes centrals, principalment). Igualment rellevants s\u00f3n els estudis sobre la reconstrucci\u00f3 del paisatge d\u2019altitud de Sierra Nevada durant la Petita Edat del Gel, a partir de documentaci\u00f3 hist\u00f2rica d\u2019\u00e8poca. Aix\u00ed mateix, s\u2019ha prestat continuada atenci\u00f3 a l\u2019evoluci\u00f3 del paisatge actual de la muntanya mediterr\u00e0nia (din\u00e0mica, potencialitats, \u00fas i gesti\u00f3 i valor patrimonial). Degut a la preocupaci\u00f3 per la tasca educativa i did\u00e0ctica, cal assenyalar tamb\u00e9 les freq\u00fcents contribucions en l\u2019\u00e0mbit de la Did\u00e0ctica de la Geografia, en particular en el significat curricular y educatiu de la ci\u00e8ncia geogr\u00e0fica en els nivells de Batxillerat i en l\u2019Ensenyament obligatori.<\/p><p>Tota aquesta labor investigadora, de la que tamb\u00e9 se n\u2019ha derivat la direcci\u00f3 de tesis doctorals i de M\u00e0ster, s\u2019ha canalitzat mitjan\u00e7ant continuats projectes de recerca competitius desenvolupats darrerament, des de l\u2019any 2000, a trav\u00e9s del Grup de Recerca Consolidat Paisatge i paleoambients a la muntanya mediterr\u00e0nia (2009SGR-0868 i 2014SGR-373), del que va ser I.P. Tamb\u00e9 a trav\u00e9s del Servei de Paisatge de la Universitat de Barcelona, que va dirigir fins l\u2019any 2014, y des del qual s\u2019ha promogut la visi\u00f3 aplicada de la recerca de base descrita. El desenvolupament d\u2019aquesta activitat investigadora i aplicada ha generat, a m\u00e9s, una \u00e0mplia i fecunda producci\u00f3 cient\u00edfica de m\u00e9s tres centenars de t\u00edtols distribu\u00efts en articles publicats en revistes especialitzades indexades, llibres i cap\u00edtols de llibres, pon\u00e8ncies i comunicacions aportades a congressos cient\u00edfics nacionals i internacionals, a m\u00e9s de desenes<\/p><p>d\u2019informes i projectes t\u00e8cnics realitzats a petici\u00f3 d\u2019institucions i empreses p\u00fabliques i privades.<\/p><p>Cal assenyalar tamb\u00e9, la contribuci\u00f3 al desenvolupament i difusi\u00f3 de la recerca geomorfol\u00f2gica des de diferents revistes especialitzades, en tretze de les quals forma part del seu consell de redacci\u00f3. Igualment cal mencionar la pertinen\u00e7a, com a membre de n\u00famero, de nombroses societats cient\u00edfiques de reconegut prestigi.
