Joan B. Renart Cava, Presidente de Vichy Catalán, ingresa en la Real Academia Europea de DoctoresJoan B. Renart, president of the Vichy Catalán Group, entered as honorary academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) during a ceremony what was held on April 11 in the Assembly Hall of Catalan Labour Promotion of National Work, headquarters of the Academy. The recipient read the admission speech “Sujeto de la creatividad para ser más competitivos: El individuo creativo” (The subject of creativity to be more competitive: The creative individual). Full academician and Vice-president Pedro Clarós answered on behalf of the Royal Corporation. The event was attended by more than 200 people and 30 academicians.

Prologued by Màrius Carol, director of Catalan newspaper “La Vanguardia”, and Alfredo Rocafort, president of the Royal Academy, the speech has an extensive preamble written by Natàlia Piernas that summarises the professional and vital career that has led the new academician to be one of the most recognised business managers in Catalonia and Spain. The story begins in his native Balaguer, continues in Barcelona, where he completed his training and founded the School of Marketing, a pioneer centre in the studies not only marketing, but management and business administration, and concludes in Vichy Catalan, a society in which he was elected administrator in 1984. Since then, his growth and positioning in the market and the flourishing of Hotel Spa Vichy Catalán are the main guarantees of his management.

In his speech, Renart exposes the value of creativity in the company and analyses concepts that he introduces into management such as flexibility, sense of humour, mental health, aesthetic sensibility, authority or independence. He also presents various formulas to address the problems that arise in the company and the brakes that are opposed to creativity.

In his presentation, Rocafort had words of praise for the new honorary member: “For the Royal Academy and for who speaks to them this is a moment of singular emotion because we give entrance to our institution to one of the great referents of the company as a place to generate employment, a culture of effort and serious and honest work. Joan Renart has placed his company, Vichy Catalán, at the head of a difficult and complex sector that has become a mandatory reference in our country and has given, with the help of his son Joan, CEO of the same, a huge boost to the internationalization of the company, which marks the way that family businesses that aim to succeed must follow, as the company presiding over our new academic is undoubtedly doing”.
