{"id":111725,"date":"2022-01-27T11:47:58","date_gmt":"2022-01-27T11:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/?p=111725"},"modified":"2022-01-28T10:13:15","modified_gmt":"2022-01-28T10:13:15","slug":"superats-els-limits-del-planeta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raed.academy\/ca\/superats-els-limits-del-planeta\/","title":{"rendered":"Superats els l\u00edmits del planeta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Miquel Ventura<\/strong>, director de projectes de la <strong>Fundaci\u00f3 Pro Reial Acad\u00e8mia Europea de Doctors<\/strong> i impulsor del projecte d&#8217;observaci\u00f3 i protecci\u00f3 de la biodiversitat marina <strong>Silmar<\/strong>, presenta a la comunitat acad\u00e8mica l&#8217;article <strong>&#8220;Superats els l\u00edmits del planeta&#8221;<\/strong>, que complementa les seves reflexions recents sobre el paper que tenen la Fundaci\u00f3 i la <strong>Reial Acad\u00e8mia Europea de Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) en aquest obligat canvi d&#8217;era on la humanitat es juga bona part del seu futur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fins a quins l\u00edmits la Terra podr\u00e0 absorbir les pressions antropog\u00e8niques sense comprometre les condicions de vida de l&#8217;esp\u00e8cie humana?<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Introducci\u00f3<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Molt pocs llocs de la Terra s\u00f3n lliures de la contaminaci\u00f3. Hem assolit el l\u00edmit del possible, els compostos qu\u00edmics artificials fabricats pels humans es troben presents a tota la biosfera i m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de la tropopausa. La nostra ja insalubre atmosfera contamina el cicle de l&#8217;aigua que cau en forma de neu i aigua als cims de les muntanyes, els boscos, planes i al mar aconseguit els fons abissals m\u00e9s profunds de l&#8217;oce\u00e0. D&#8217;una manera o altra, totes les formes de vida es veuen afectades per la contaminaci\u00f3. No nom\u00e9s parlo de contaminaci\u00f3 qu\u00edmica, ja que hi ha altres tipus de contaminaci\u00f3 m\u00e9s de tipus f\u00edsic que tamb\u00e9 alteren el nostre entorn i qualitat de vida de plantes i animals com \u00e9s la contaminaci\u00f3 en forma de calor, la contaminaci\u00f3 lum\u00ednica o l&#8217;ac\u00fastica. M\u00e9s enll\u00e0 tamb\u00e9 podem parlar de l&#8217;impacte de la contaminaci\u00f3 informativa i cultural associada a la desinformaci\u00f3 i a l&#8217;hiperconsum que mouen el m\u00f3n, per\u00f2 aix\u00f2 \u00e9s una farina d&#8217;un altre paner.<\/p>\n<p>Es calcula que hi ha m\u00e9s de 360.000 tipus diferents de compostos qu\u00edmics sint\u00e8tics al mercat mundial. Aquests inclouen compostos qu\u00edmics per a tota mena d&#8217;ind\u00fastries, infinitat de pl\u00e0stics, pesticides, subst\u00e0ncies per a l&#8217;alimentaci\u00f3, subst\u00e0ncies farmacol\u00f2giques, antibi\u00f2tics, productes cosm\u00e8tics, productes derivats de l&#8217;enginyeria gen\u00e8tica (transg\u00e8nics) i un llarg etc\u00e8tera. Totes aquestes subst\u00e0ncies artificials s\u00f3n totalment noves i presenten efectes en gran part desconeguts pels sistemes vius del planeta. La m\u00e9s cr\u00edtica de tot aix\u00f2 \u00e9s que anualment surten al mercat nous compostos que s&#8217;introdueixen al sistema planetari que escapen al control de les administracions p\u00fabliques responsables de la seva regulaci\u00f3 amb efectes desconeguts en el seu cicle de vida (LCA) a mitj\u00e0 i llarg termini.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_111651\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-111651\" class=\"wp-image-111651 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/La-quinona-6PPD-envenena-el-medio-ambiente.webp\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/La-quinona-6PPD-envenena-el-medio-ambiente.webp 700w, https:\/\/raed.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/La-quinona-6PPD-envenena-el-medio-ambiente-400x250.webp 400w\" alt=\"Esquema de toxicitat \" width=\"700\" height=\"437\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-111651\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-111651\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">La subst\u00e0ncia qu\u00edmica quinona 6PPD, present als pneum\u00e0tics dels autom\u00f2bils, enverina el medi ambient urb\u00e0 i l&#8217;aigua de pluja de l&#8217;escorrentia la introdueix en rius, rierols i al mar afectant la biodiversitat, la cadena aliment\u00e0ria i els nostres cossos. Font Mysterious Earth &amp; Eurek Alert, 2020<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Durant les darreres dues d\u00e8cades, els investigadors de l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>EPA<\/strong><\/a> (Environmental Protection Agency, Estats Units) han observat morts massives i regulars del salm\u00f3 platejat (Oncorhycchus kisutch) que migren riu amunt en passar per zones fluvials urbanes contaminades a causa de l&#8217;efecte de l&#8217;escorrentia de les precipitacions pluvials que arrossega molts contaminants. Els resultats s\u00f3n concloents a les zones m\u00e9s urbanitzades de les conques de rius i llacs la s\u00edndrome de mort per vessament urb\u00e0, URDS (&#8220;urban runoff death sindrome&#8221;) pot matar m\u00e9s de 70% dels salmons migratoris abans que tinguin l&#8217;oportunitat de desovar.<\/p>\n<p>A les ciutats mediterr\u00e0nies com Barcelona, \u200b\u200bVal\u00e8ncia, Marsella o Roma, l&#8217;efecte URDS sumat a les altes temperatures als mesos d&#8217;estiu augmenten la letalitat dels productes qu\u00edmics alliberats a l&#8217;entorn en combinar-se amb altres subst\u00e0ncies qu\u00edmiques (Blue Pla, MAP-UNEP, 2020). Encara que la s\u00edndrome de mort de la biota per vessament de l&#8217;aigua urbana contaminada est\u00e0 relacionada amb episodis de pluja, sembla que hi ha un compost qu\u00edmic, la quinona 6PPD, integrada als pneum\u00e0tics dels vehicles que amb el seu desgast per fregament es queda a l&#8217;asfalt i a l&#8217;ambient. Els estudis demostren que aquesta \u00e9s una de les fonts m\u00e9s importants de contaminaci\u00f3 qu\u00edmica i micropl\u00e0stics de les ciutats i a les zones costaneres afecten directament les aig\u00fces marines litorals i causen impactes ambientals molt considerables que redueixen la salubritat de l&#8217;entorn. Aquests efectes tan negatius estan actualment poc estudiats i des de la nostra organitzaci\u00f3 tenim el prop\u00f2sit de continuar investigant per assolir un nivell de coneixement suficient per saber com afrontar-ho. La Fundaci\u00f3 RAED en el marc d&#8217;activitat del projecte Silmar est\u00e0 estudiant la pres\u00e8ncia de micropl\u00e0stics i altres residus qu\u00edmics al fons mar\u00ed i a la columna d&#8217;aigua per determinar l&#8217;impacte sobre la biota. Aix\u00f2 permetr\u00e0 entendre en profunditat l&#8217;impacte ambiental i ecol\u00f2gic dels efectes dels contaminants que arrossega l&#8217;escorriment urb\u00e0\u201d (URDS). A m\u00e9s, permet buscar la causa de les morts massives d&#8217;algunes esp\u00e8cies marines quan la qualitat de l&#8217;aigua de mar \u00e9s molt baixa. El <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionraed.org\/silmar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>projecte Silmar<\/strong><\/a> de l&#8217;estaci\u00f3 la Mar Bella \u00e9s possible gr\u00e0cies al suport econ\u00f2mic del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diagonalmarcentre.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Centre Comercial Diagonal Mar<\/strong><\/a>. Fotos. <strong>Miquel Ventura Mons\u00f3<\/strong> \u2013 Fundaci\u00f3 RAED.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"caja-enfasis\">Des de la d\u00e8cada de 1950 hi ha hagut un increment 50 vegades superior en la producci\u00f3 de productes qu\u00edmics i les previsions s\u00f3n que aquest augment es tripliqui per a mitjans del segle XXI<\/div>\n<h2>Superats els l\u00edmits del planeta<\/h2>\n<p>En una de les primeres avaluacions publicades sobre els l\u00edmits planetaris relacionats amb &#8220;subst\u00e0ncies noves&#8221; (productes qu\u00edmics sint\u00e8tics, inclosos els pl\u00e0stics) 14 cient\u00edfics van concloure (<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/journal\/esthag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Environmental Science and Technology<\/strong><\/a>) que la humanitat ha excedit un altre l\u00edmit planetari. Aquest nou l\u00edmit relacionat amb els contaminants ambientals ja s&#8217;ha excedit, cosa que augmenta els riscos per a l&#8217;estabilitat dels ecosistemes i sistemes naturals de planeta, demostrant que la producci\u00f3 de pl\u00e0stic i altres subst\u00e0ncies va augmentar un 80% entre l&#8217;any 2000 i el 2015. Davant d&#8217;aix\u00f2, la humanitat t\u00e9 el nou repte de millorar la gesti\u00f3 dels riscos, la vigil\u00e0ncia del cicle de vida d&#8217;aquests compostos a l&#8217;entorn (inclosos els nostres propis cossos), aix\u00ed com en la reducci\u00f3 de la producci\u00f3 i eliminaci\u00f3 de productes nocius per depurar la natura i tornar a l\u00edmits planetaris sostenibles. Com comenta la coautora de l&#8217;estudi <strong>Bethanie Carney<\/strong> de la <strong>Universitat de G\u00f6teborg<\/strong>, &#8220;la velocitat a qu\u00e8 aquests contaminants estan apareixent al medi ambient supera amb escreix la capacitat dels governs per avaluar els seus riscos potencials i molt menys poder controlar qualsevol problema potencial&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;any 2009,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pik-potsdam.de\/members\/johanro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> Johan Rockstr\u00f6m<\/strong><\/a>, director de l&#8217;<strong>Institut de Recerca sobre l&#8217;Impacte Clim\u00e0tic<\/strong> (PIK) d&#8217;Alemanya, amb el suport d&#8217;un equip internacional d&#8217;investigadors van identificar nou l\u00edmits planetaris que trenquen l&#8217;estat d&#8217;equilibri de la Terra, que ha rom\u00e0s sense grans variacions des dels albors de la civilitzaci\u00f3 durant els darrers 10.000 anys. Aquests l\u00edmits inclouen les emissions de gasos d&#8217;efecte hivernacle, la desestabilitzaci\u00f3 de la capa d&#8217;oz\u00f3, la p\u00e8rdua de boscos, la reducci\u00f3 i la contaminaci\u00f3 de les masses d&#8217;aig\u00fces dolces i la p\u00e8rdua de la biodiversitat escala global. Despr\u00e9s de 10 anys, els resultats de l&#8217;estudi van determinar els l\u00edmits que influeixen en l&#8217;estabilitat de la Terra concloent que s&#8217;han sobrepassat quatre l\u00edmits clars. Aquests s\u00f3n l&#8217;escalfament global (cicle del carboni), la p\u00e8rdua de biodiversitat, la desforestaci\u00f3 i el canvi d&#8217;usos del s\u00f2l i la contaminaci\u00f3 per f\u00f2sfor i nitrogen de camps i ecosistemes. En aquest context, els nous compostos qu\u00edmics era un dels l\u00edmits que romanien sense quantificar fins ara.<\/p>\n<p>La previsi\u00f3 \u00e9s que la producci\u00f3 i el consum mundial de nous compostos qu\u00edmics continuaran creixent. Avui, la massa total de pl\u00e0stics que hi ha al planeta \u00e9s m\u00e9s del doble de la massa de tots els mam\u00edfers vius. El m\u00e9s preocupant \u00e9s que aproximadament el 85% de tots els pl\u00e0stics produ\u00efts durant els darrers 150 anys segueixen en el medi ambient i romandran durant milers d&#8217;anys.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caja-enfasis\">Els contaminants qu\u00edmics s&#8217;han detectat a escala mundial, des de l&#8217;\u00c0rtic fins a l&#8217;Ant\u00e0rtida passant pel desert i les selves m\u00e9s inh\u00f2spites, s\u00f3n extremadament persistents i afecten tots els sistemes de la Terra, inclosa la biodiversitat i els cicles biogeoqu\u00edmics<\/div>\n<p>Els pl\u00e0stics contenen a m\u00e9s altres productes qu\u00edmics nocius, per la qual cosa la seva degradaci\u00f3 ambiental crea noves combinacions de materials m\u00e9s perillosos amb impactes ambientals poc coneguts associats com al c\u00e0ncer, la immunodefici\u00e8ncia, problemes mentals o d&#8217;infertilitat.<\/p>\n<p>El 18 de gener passat, cient\u00edfics del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stockholmresilience.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Centre de Resili\u00e8ncia d&#8217;Estocolm<\/strong><\/a> (SRC) confirmaven que hem creuat un cinqu\u00e8 l\u00edmit planetari: el l\u00edmit de la contaminaci\u00f3 qu\u00edmica. El 5, dels 9 l\u00edmits planetaris identificats. El m\u00e9s alarmant de tot plegat \u00e9s que aquesta not\u00edcia va passar totalment desapercebuda. Aquesta \u00e9s una prova m\u00e9s del que ja vaig comentar al meu anterior article: viure realment l&#8217;argument de la pel\u00b7l\u00edcula <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/es\/Title\/81252357\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&#8220;Don\u2019t Look Up&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> (No miris a dalt). La realitat supera la ficci\u00f3. El mateix va passar amb la publicaci\u00f3 de l&#8217;informe de l&#8217;<strong>IPCC<\/strong> sobre les tend\u00e8ncies de l&#8217;escalfament global el 9 d&#8217;agost del 2021. Ciutadans del m\u00f3n, estem parlant d&#8217;una amena\u00e7a real a l&#8217;estabilitat dels ecosistemes globals de qu\u00e8 dep\u00e8n la humanitat i el futur de les noves generacions.<\/p>\n<h2>El repte d&#8217;implementar un model ecol\u00f2gic d&#8217;economia productiva<\/h2>\n<p>El funcionament del nostre model de desenvolupament socioecon\u00f2mic basat en el creixement sostingut (no ho confonguem amb sostenible) ens porta a pensar que les tend\u00e8ncies de producci\u00f3 i alliberament de productes qu\u00edmics a la natura continuaran augmentant, posant m\u00e9s en risc la salut de la biosfera i, per tant, les nostres vides. Per aix\u00f2, canviar a una economia circular \u00e9s realment essencial i important per al progr\u00e9s de la humanitat en un m\u00f3n sa i ecol\u00f2gicament funcional. Aix\u00f2 significa canviar la forma de dissenyar i fabricar els nous materials i productes perqu\u00e8 es puguin reutilitzar i reciclar sense desaprofitar mat\u00e8ries primeres, reduint la contaminaci\u00f3 i la pressi\u00f3 sobre la naturalesa. \u00c9s essencial aprendre a produir eco productes qu\u00edmics biodegradables i compostables, pl\u00e0stics org\u00e0nics que s&#8217;autodegraden al final de la seva vida \u00fatil. En aquest sentit, les administracions p\u00fabliques des d&#8217;acords nacionals i internacionals vinculants han de regular, seleccionar i promoure l&#8217;\u00fas de productes qu\u00edmics segurs i ecol\u00f2gics que permetin la sostenibilitat dels processos productius. Per contra, les administracions han de vetar l&#8217;entrada al mercat de productes qu\u00edmics nocius i les empreses que els fabriquen obligant-los a elaborar productes ecol\u00f2gics en el marc de la nova economia regenerativa.<\/p>\n<p>Els l\u00edmits planetaris s\u00f3n temes de vital import\u00e0ncia per a la Reial Acad\u00e8mia Europea de Doctors i la seva Fundaci\u00f3. En aquest sentit, al <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacionraed.org\/retos-vitales\/informe-anual-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>primer volum de &#8220;Reptes Vitals per a una Nova Era&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>, del 2021, i al segon que actualment estem editant es tracten de forma directa o indirecta els 9 l\u00edmits planetaris com a reptes vitals a qu\u00e8 devem enfrontem des de coneixement i experi\u00e8ncia.
