The Jury of the ECOFIN Awards has chosen Isidro Fainé, president of the La Caixa Banking Foundation and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), as Financier of the Year 2017, attending to the design, execution and management of this financial instrument that has served to solve the management of CaixaBank and Criteria, but in a very special way to preserve the social action of the old savings banks which thanks to this instrument allows to keep about 80% of the social work of the old savings banks in Spain.

The Forum of Renowned Brands of Spain a few days ago also appointed Honorary Ambassador of the Spain Brand to the La Caixa Banking Foundation “for its great work in support of activities and projects of a social, educational, cultural and scientific nature not only in Spain but also in more than twenty countries in Latin America, Asia and Africa, where it emphasizes his commitment and work for children”. The “la Caixa” Social Work is, with 500 million euros of budget, the first private foundation in Spain and one of the most important in the world. It annually promotes more than 50,000 initiatives that benefit more than 10.5 million people.

The Jury of the ECOFIN Awards, in addition to highlighting the professional career of Isidro Fainé in the financial sector, has wanted to focus on his work at the head of the Foundation from which he works by promoting social initiatives of the third sector in social and solidarity action, investing in research, education, culture and science.
