Avram Hershko, doctor in Biology and Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2004, will enter as honorary academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) during a ceremony to be held in Barcelona next Tuesday, March 7. His introducer will be the full academician of the RAED José Daniel Barquero.

Born in Hungary in 1937, Hershko emigrated with his family to Israel. He graduated in medicine in 1965 and obtained his doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was awarded the Nobel prize for his discoveries of protein degradation caused by ubiquitin along with Aaron Ciechanover, also honorary academician of the RAED.
